Phil Hamilton, 80, of Elk Run Heights, died on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at NorthCrest Specialty Care in Waterloo.
He was born August 28, 1944, in Taopi, Minn., the son of Elmer "Bud" and Lucille (Kath) Hamilton.
Phil served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1965-1967 with the 101st Airborne.
He worked for Wendell Lockard Construction for 15 years before starting his own business as a masonry contractor. He retired in 2007. He enjoyed what he did for a living. He was also a member of Evansdale AmVets Post #31.
Phil is survived by his daughter, Kiana (David Jarrett) Wright of Covington, Va.; two sisters, Donna (William) McDermott of Waterloo, and Carol (Dennis) Thompson of Janesville; a grandson, Dustin (Lisa) Wright of Covington, Va.; and two great-grandchildren, Alli and DJ Wright of Covington, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Gary and Larry Hamilton.
A Celebration of Life memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Evansdale AmVets Hall, 706 Colleen Ave.

Greatest in his profession.
My home in Waterloo reflects him
& hired him for our Clear Lake home. So everywhere I look I think of him. Business too.
