Phillip G. Miller Sr.
Phil Miller Sr., 74, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on September 29, 2025. He was born on May 8, 1951, to Robert W. Miller Sr. and Margaret J. Miller (Hannel). Phil was married to Patricia “Penne” Miller (Smith) for 56 years. Phil is survived by his loving wife Penne and their two Sons Phil Jr. (Lori) and Clint (Sunnie). He also had Four Grandchildren, Two Great Grand Daughters and a Great Grandson due next March. Phil was a middle child and is survived by his four brothers, Bob "Skip" (Mary) Jim, Glenn (Ann), Dean (Karen). He is preceded in death by his parents and two nephews.
Phil was involved in the garage door business since 1969 until his retirement in 2020. He started as an installer and worked his way up to head of operations for two companies. He started Midwest Garage Door Systems, Inc. from his garage in 1986 and built it into one of the largest garage door companies in Central IN. His two sons now run the company and continue to build on the foundation that he established.
Phil put family above everything else. He enjoyed any opportunity to gather with the people he loved. He was a very giving man and would always be there for those he cared for. If someone needed anything, he would be the first to help. He and his wife Penne enjoyed regular vacations. He really enjoyed trips to Lake Tahoe, Alaska, The Panama Canal, Gatlinburg and Florida. They also enjoyed weekly trips to the movie theater. Phil loved history and loved sharing stories of his past. He had a love of animals. He always had dogs and was known to nurse sick and weak animals back to health.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Washington Park East, located at 10722 E Washington St., Indianapolis. This will be followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM. Interment at Washington Park East Cemetery will take place on a later date. In lieu of plants and flowers, please donate to The American Heart Association, the American Kidney Fund or any charity of your choice.
