Phil "Phabe" Wartman

Wartman, P.J., Phil (Phabe) age 91, of Shorewood, MN, born June 20, 1933 in Victoria, MN, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Phabe was a graduate of St. John's Prep School and St. Johns University in Collegeville, MN. Served in the Army and returned to MN. Prior to a long career in Finance, he was busy playing baseball in Wisconsin, Georgia and Minnesota. Also enjoyed hunting, fishing, horse racing, coaching and occasional late morning golf games. Preceded in death by parents, Ben and Hilda Wartman, sisters Doris and Sr. Eleanor, and brothers Rich and Eugene. Survived by wife of 49 years, Rita, daughter, Sara Dooley (Matt), granddaugheters Michaela and Claire and sister Mary Moore, brothers-in-law Gail Struss (Judy), Rick Struss (Bonnie) and Larry Struss (Tracy), sister-in-law Roxanne Kohlhoff (Larry) and many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. Special thank-you to the staff of The Glenn in Minnetonka for the loving care provided during the past few years. Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday, April 7, 2025 at Noon at St. Victoria Historic Catholic Church in Victoria, MN. Visitation at the church from 11 AM-12 PM. Interment at St. Victoria Cemetery. A luncheon will follow. Memorials preferred to St. John's University or the charity of your choice.
