Philip F. Ahern, age 90, a longtime resident of North Chelmsford and Largo, FL, passed away peacefully at Lowell General Hospital on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Janet M. (Ford) Ahern with whom he shared 52 years of marriage until her passing in 2011.
He was born in Arlington on September 30, 1934, and was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Higgins) Ahern.
He attended Arlington High School, graduating in 1953. Upon graduation, Philip enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving honorably as a Korean War veteran. After leaving the military, he began his career as an industrial photographer. His passion for photography evolved into a lifelong career in the audio and visual field, culminating in a 25-year tenure at Crimson Tech. Philip summered in Rockport on Back Beach for 60 years, passing his love for Rockport onto his children and grandchildren. In retirement, he enjoyed his time in Largo, FL, with many dear friends.
Philip is survived by two daughters and three sons, Jean Fielding and her spouse Patti White of North Chelmsford, Cheryl Nolet of North Chelmsford, Daniel and his wife Sarah of North Chelmsford, Brian and his wife Christine of Tyngsborough, and Todd and his wife Heather of Chelmsford; his grandchildren, David and Amy Fielding, Jessica Norris and her partner Scott Vincent, Kenneth and Allyssa Fielding, Meagan Dolan, Nicholas & Faith Nolet, Emily & Zach Richall, Natalie, Jake Ahern & his partner Rachael Tocci, Danielle Ahern and her fianc Patrick Sullivan, Stephanie, Abigail Ahern and her partner Philip Holler, Aiden and Viktoria Ahern, and Brooke Ahern; and seventeen beloved great-grandchildren. Philip is also survived by his sister, Claire Stanislawcyk from Denver, CO.
Philip was predeceased by his siblings Barbara Orlowski, Bob Ahern, Charles Ahern, Dennis Ahern, David Ahern, and Elizabeth Ahern. He was also the father in-law of the late Joseph E. Nolet.
The family would like to express their great appreciation to Rita Nsibambi, who was more than a caretaker; she became Philip's dear friend over the past three years.
