Philip Audino Obituary

Philip J. Audino

Newport, NH — Philip Joseph Audino of Newport, NH, died suddenly at home on May 27, 2022, at the age of 71.

Phil is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beverly (née Vaughn) Audino; his four sons, Ross (Brenna), Philip (Jeanie), Christopher (Erin), and Charles (Miriam); his eight grandchildren, Luca (8), Esmé (6), Leander (10), Evengeline (8), Alma (6), Josephina (2), Jonas (14), and Clementine (12); his sister, Kathy (Kenneth) Berlinghieri; four nieces, Sister Peter Marie (née Karen Berlinghieri), Jennifer (Richard) Minicus, Sarah (Tom) Krawczyk, Mary (Jean) Willi; a nephew, Joseph Berlinghieri; and loving cousins, Cynthia Switzer and Judith (Sam) Glasgow.

Phil was born on December 5, 1950, in Hackensack, NJ, to Philip J. and Margaret (née Maurello) Audino, and he married Beverly A. Vaughn on July 9, 1977, at Wakefield Baptist Church in Wakefield, RI. His four sons remember him to be devoted, reliable, and beautifully stubborn, a father who committed his life to providing for his family. They will always remember his readily given sage advice and his tenacity for life, which made him always committed to do what was right.

Phil worked for many years in telecommunications with BelTel, AT&T, NYNEX Mobile, and then his own consulting company, Essential Telecom Resources. Driven by his resolute spirit, in 2000, he pursued one of his lifelong dreams of opening a restaurant. He owned and operated All Good Things Cafe in Amherst, NH, which helped launch the restaurant careers of two of his sons.

Phil had a quick wit, and he was a lifelong punster and an enthusiastic practical joker. His legendary sense of humor was a comfort to many. In times of stress, he always had an encouraging word and knew when to crack a well-placed joke.

A masterful cook, Phil used his culinary skill and love of food to bless many people. No one was a stranger at Phil's table which extended far beyond his home. A generous servant and indefatigable hardworker, Phil gave his time to a variety of pursuits—leading Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, volunteering with Londonderry (NH) Lancer Gridiron Club, coaching many of his sons' athletic teams, cooking for countless church potlucks, and offering a helping hand to any number of service projects. In recent years, Phil worked as an assistant park manager at Wellington State Park in Bristol, New Hampshire, and spent much of his time gardening, working on his New England style Victorian home, building rockets and a model train set for his grandchildren, and helping his sons with home and restaurant improvements.

A faithful and loving husband and a devoted father, Phil was most proud of his family, taking immeasurable joy in his children and grandchildren.

Calling hours at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home are Saturday, June 4 from 9-10:30 a.m., immediately followed by a memorial service at Lake Church, 314 Sunapee St., Newport, NH. Parking is limited at the funeral home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Phil's life. Reception to follow.
