Philip J. Hickey III, age 94, of Douglassville PA, formerly of Highland Park and Drexel Hill, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2022. Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Philip Joseph Hickey Jr. and Lydia Elizabeth Hickey (nee Gebhard).

Phil was employed by Bell Telephone Company and held a leadership position as Regional Supervisor. He retired from the phone company in 1986 after 35 years of service.
Phil was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Hickey (nee Leopoldt). I second my sister Jane´s sentiments. Phil was indeed family: we spent nearly every big holiday with Uncle Phil, Aunt Marge and Pat, and had summer barbecues too numerous to count. Phil´s jokes were nonstop, and he used to chase all our kids around saying, "I vant to bite your neck," like some deranged Dracula. He joined Company 2 - Highland Park Fire Company - a little after our Dad, Dick Bailey, so Phil became low man on the totem pole. As a result, they all started calling him "New Boy." But Phil and Dad soon joined forces and pulled some hilarious practical jokes on Frank Huf, also a Company 2 firefighter. So many memories, so much fun and never a dull moment! We miss him (and Aunt Marge) dearly, and so glad he and Ricki were together for so many sweet years. Thanks, Uncle Phil, you´re one of a kind and we love you! Michael Bailey

Phil was such a big part of our family from the time we were kids. He and my Dad, Dick Bailey, became friends when they were firemen at Highland Park Fire Co. They were partners in crime, as anyone who knows them can attest. We did barbecues and holidays with Phil and Marge as far back as I remember. Then my kids came along and they grew up knowing Phil also. And we all loved him and his goofy jokes and teasing! We will miss Phil terribly, but the fond memories will keep us going. Thank you, Ricki and your family for "adopting" him as your own. I hope Phil and my Dad are in heaven together clowning around like in the old days! All our love from the Baileys XOXO
