Philip Eugene Holmes

April 18, 1938 – February 2, 2022

Philip Eugene Holmes, 83, a loving father and husband, passed away peacefully at sunset. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Swift Creek Baptist Church, 9300 Penny Road, Raleigh, North Carolina. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary prior to the service from 2-3 p.m.

Philip was a retired NCDMV Inspector with the license and theft division. He was a lover of golf, hunting, NASCAR and Duke basketball. His favorite vacation spot was the North Carolina mountains. He served in the United States Army from 1956-1958.

Philip is survived by his daughter, Connie Glover and husband, Brian of Sims; sons, Philip E. Holmes, Jr. and finance, Shawna Robinson of Catawba, Michael David Holmes and wife, Kelly of Durham and William Douglas Holmes of Sanford; grandchildren, Andrew Glover, Jordan Holmes Evans and husband, Mike, Grant Holmes, Ashlyn Glover, Stephen Holmes, Brad Holmes and Jace Holmes; sister, Ruth Shuford of Bishopville, South Carolina and brother, David Holmes and wife, LaRue of Fuquay Varina.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Marion Jones Holmes of the home; parents, Connie and Mozelle Moore Holmes and his sister, Jackie Tingen.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Spring Arbor Cottage Care and Community Hospice of Rocky Mount for their kindness, support and love they showed to Philip.
