Philip R. Lednik, age 85, of Elyria, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at University Hospital- Elyria Medical Center, following a short illness, surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Felix and Helen Lednik (nee Hanasky) on October 9, 1936, in Shadyside, OH.
Philip proudly served his country as a member of the US Air Force from 1956-1960. He graduated from Baldwin Wallace College, Magnum Cum Laude with a BA degree in Accounting. He was employed as an Air Traffic Controller in Oberlin, OH for 20 + years and later for Martin J. Tobin Co. in North Ridgeville, OH as an Office Manager and an Accountant. Philip was a member of the Elyria Rotary Club and was instrumental, as well as, volunteered for St. Agnes Church food pantry, called "Table of Plenty". In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, golf, and was an avid supporter of Ohio sports teams, including OSU, the Browns, and the Indians.
Philip was a loving husband to Lana (nee Holden) for 48 years. Devoted father of Teri (Gary) Conaway, Julie (Kenny) Thompson, Mark (Tammy) Lednik, Jeffrey (Connie) Lednik, Diana Lednik, Susan (Jeff) Sabatino, Kevin (LeeAnn) Lednik, Nicole (Robert) Thompson, Gregory (Amanda) Lednik, and Stephanie H Rouan. Grandfather to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brother to Phyllis Johnson (Robert).
He was preceded in death by a sister Nancy Hitchcock and his parents, Felix and Helen Lednik.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at St. Agnes Church in Elyria. Rev Charles Diedrick, Pastor of the church, will officiate. Family will greet friends from 4-7pm on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second St, Elyria, OH 44035. He will be laid to rest privately at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
