Philip Mazzulla Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Funeral Home – Milwaukee from Dec. 7 to Dec. 8, 2022.
Philip John Mazzulla, 35, was born on August 24th, 1987 and was taken from earth unexpectedly on December 1st, 2022. He was fiercely loved by all who knew him and remains an inspiration to those who survived him including his father, James Patrick Mazzulla, M.D., his mother, Constance Mazzulla Ganapes, M.D., his sisters Francesca (James Hamilton) Mazzulla and Emily (Perry LaRoque) Mazzulla, his brother Alan (Leahnna) Mazzulla, nieces and nephews Ellery, William, and Philip Hamilton, James, Georgia, and Theodore LaRoque, numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and very dear friends especially Alan Mazzulla, Nikki Pruss, Paul Gillick, Matt Wilson, and Gino Ricchio.

Phil was extraordinary. He was a true citizen of the world, seeking experiences and meaningful connection wherever he traveled, broadening his perspective. Phil was a protector of life and our natural world. Particularly, he had a passion for preservation of the oceans and coral reefs, which he explored through diving all over the world. His open, accepting way of being welcomed new ideas and deepened his personal connection to all peoples and their cultures. He had an inquisitive mind and was profoundly knowledgeable about a vast array of topics. He loved to engage in discourse and challenged the status quo. Phil thought deeply about the spirituality and meaning of life, and encouraged those around him to do the same.

Phil's energy was magnetic. He was one of the brightest rays of sunshine to ever bless this earth. He loved to laugh, to listen and dance to music, and be with those for whom he cared. Phil loved his family and will be deeply missed. His zest and passion for life were unparalleled and inspire us to live life to the fullest just as he did. Phil is at peace with his God.

Family and friends will gather at Three Holy Women Parish – St. Hedwig Church, 1702 N. Humboldt Ave. on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 9:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM.

Phil was passionate about our earth and environment, especially as it relates to the health of the oceans and endangered coral reefs. In lieu of flowers, please donate to: Coral Reef Alliance (www.coral.org) and consider taking a dive to experience the glory of the oceans and reef yourself.

To the Mazzulla Family...Anne and I were shocked and saddened to hear of Phil´s untimely passing. I was in St. Rita´s Church when I heard the announcement. We are so sorry for your unexpected loss. Philly was a great kid and someone we remember fondly. Our thoughts, fervent prayers, deepest condolences, and support are with you at this very difficult time. When you are feeling up to it, Anne and I would love to hear from you and would look forward to getting together to rekindle our friendship. May God be with you and May perpetual light shine upon Phil. With deepest condolences, Dave and Anne Liccione Milwaukee

I'm so sorry for your loss of Philip. I still remember when Philip was our ring bearer. He had everyone laughing when he was making faces at them during the boring ceremony. I can't even imagine how hard this must be for you. I will be keeping you in my thoughts & prayers.
