Surgeon Dr. Philip A. McGowan grew up on Sullivan's Island. Edgar Allan "Poe" avenue. He passed away recently at 82. His funeral will be held soon.

He had a passion for Sturgeon. His catch and release. They are as rare as he was. An Air force veteran, war veteran, prominent eye surgeon, property tycoon, avid fisherman, a lover of speed, a family man, and ultimatly saved and improved countless. Godspeed Philip. You will be missed by all of us. We will see you again. This rare picture, placed on the internet yesterday, shows a Sturgeon found on Sullivan's Island. Ironically, a favorite fish among his passions.

you Sir. a lot of prayers for you, family, and friends
