Dear Linda and family:
I know that you are all aware of the special relationship between my mother, myself and your father. We are blessed to have been part of his life and have been enriched by his love and kindness. We will miss him very much.

Dear Linda,
I have such fond memories of your Mom and Dad. I even remember a black and white cocktail dress your mother wore to our house when I was a little girl. I now have my mother's desk and in the top drawer was a pink pad of paper with your father's picture. I am so sad to hear of his passing. What a jolly man he was. Even after these many (45?) years, I remember them both so well.

It is with heartfelt sadness that I enter our condolences into this book.
Phil was a beacon of light and a warmth that permeated the room. We thought of Phil as family. My parents, Harry and Ruth Bergal, my Aunt, Freda Marx, and Freda's daughter Joyce were together in Scottsdale a few months ago. We all loved him and will miss him. May his memory be blessed now and forever.

My family and I have grown to love Phil, "Papa Phil" as my girls would call him, over the past 6 years when he and my grandmother were reunited and a family reunion. Papa Phil joined us in California for numerous family functions including my daughters' birthday parties. We are sorry he has left us, but our lives were enriched by knowing him.
With love, Robin, David, Rachel, and Sarah Baroway

Uncle Phil truly was a wonderful person. When I attended UMD, I went to services on Saturday mornings a couple times to visit him. He didn't remember me exactly but more as Marla's daughter and Gloria's granddaughter. We ate lunch and chatted for a about an hour. He will be missed, my condolences.

My sincere condolence to the family of Phil. My brother and I both worked for Phil, Ben, and Eva at the Woodland grocery store in the early fifty's until I joined the Navy in 1955. Phil made sure he gave me a good lecture on life before I left and I always remembered his words of encouragement and wisdom. Often visited with him on some of my vacations to Duluth in the late 50's and 60's.

Phil always had a wonderful smile and twinkling eyes which told everyone he met he was glad to see them. His love of life was infectuous and his warmth and kind memories whenever he saw me and used my German name, will be with me always.

The last time I saw my Uncle Phil was at Temple. We hugged, laughed and reminisced about my mother Gloria. Oh she loved to call him. Uncle Phil never had a harsh word about anyone, he was always able to remain 'neutral' in family quibbles and loved us all the same. It is a surreal passage of time. My condolences to his children. He lives forever in us all, we are his legacy. Peace.
