Philip Alan Schumaker, age 70, of Crown Point, Indiana, entered the arms of God on November 5, 2025. He was born on February 15, 1955, in Decatur, Illinois, where he was also raised.

Phil married Monica in 1975, his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. After missing Monica dearly since passing in January 2025, Phil is joyfully reunited with her.

Phil devoted over four decades to education in Illinois. He began his career as a teacher in 1979 and later became the K–12 Principal for Shiloh Community Unit School District #1. In 1994, he joined Lansing School District #158, serving as Principal of Calvin Coolidge Elementary School from 1994 to 2005, and then as Assistant Superintendent from 2005 to 2013. He retired after shaping countless students' paths and supporting teachers and administrators with integrity and wisdom.

Phil earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Illinois State University, a Master's in Educational Administration from Eastern Illinois University, and completed advanced graduate work in educational business management and superintendence at Governors State University and Lewis University.

Phil was known for his quirky sense of humor and the deep bond he shared with his family. Above all, he was an excellent husband and father. His daughter Breanna admired, loved, and respected him, treasuring the guidance and example he provided throughout her life.
