Obituary for Philip Jeffrey Ulrich
Philip Jeffrey Ulrich, loving husband and father of three, passed away suddenly at his home in Clayton, DE on Monday, August 5, 2024 at the age of 45.
Philip Jeffrey was born on May 7, 1979, to Jeffrey G. and Ann E. Ulrich in Dover, Delaware. He attended Smyrna High School with pride and graduated in 1997. Throughout his time in school, he was passionate about studying Agriculture Science and participating in the National FFA organization. He really enjoyed the subjects of Animal Science and Mathematics.
Following his high school graduation, he enrolled at Delaware State University (DSU) to pursue a degree in General Agriculture. He graduated from DSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Agriculture in 2001. During college and for a period after, he worked at the DSU College of Agriculture, to help with various tasks they needed for the Hickory Hill Forage Center.
Philip began working at Chick-fil-A in the mall, while he was still in high school, and continued to work there over 10-years, creating many lifelong friendships with his co-workers along the way. Throughout that same period, he also helped his father on the family farm. He was a substitute teacher in the Smyrna School District, at the high school level, for about three years. He then worked fulfilling various machine operator roles at Georgia Pacific Color Box, for a period. For the last five years, he has worked as a machine operator at Handy Tube. Throughout each of his positions, he was known for his work ethic and just being an amazing person to be around.
Philip was a member of Kenton United Methodist Church. He had many hobbies and loved being outside, gardening, and vacationing with his family. He also enjoyed the time he spent as a member of a bowling league. He liked the San Francisco 49'ers and whoever was playing against the Cowboys. He loved spending summers at the pool, was very family oriented, and so loved being with his family. While watching TV his favorite shows were Gold Rush, car shows and HGTV. He enjoyed coin collecting, anything to do with gem or gold mining, and playing card games (especially Cards against Humanity) or Brawl Stars on his phone. He listened to a variety of music, mostly country and anything from the 90's.
Anyone who knew Philip knew that he was very kind, caring, fun-loving, and an overall great person to be around. Philip was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, co-worker, and friend to many. He was an incredibly caring person that touched many lives.
He is survived by his wife Alexandra, and their three children, Jason (16), Chase (15), and Abigail (9), his parents Jeffrey and Ann Ulrich, his sister Annette Ulrich (Mark Cruz), Mark Jr. and his daughter Anaiyah (5), and daughter Aalevia, as well as her son Jameere (6), his father in-law Alexander Tsipouras and mother in-law Elizabeth Tsipouras, grandmother in-law Norean Schoonmaker ("Granny"), and brother-in-law Frank Tsipouras. He is also survived by many loved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He will be remembered with great affection for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
