Mr. Phillip Berry Sr.
Brother Phillip Berry was born July 13, 1945, to the late Rosa Bell Duncan and Berry Massey, also, stepfather, S. C. Kendrick. He was the only child born to this union. He was brother to one stepsister, Mattie Woodson. Phillip received his education through Monroe County School District of Albany Georgia. After graduating he joined the United States Army in 1964 and served a two-year enlistment. After returning home, he joined the Navy.
He received Christ at an early age. He was a member of St. Luther Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Charles Polk, Sr.
Phillip was united in holy matrimony to Christine Williams. To this union one daughter was born. He was a dedicated member of the Masons. Star of the East Lodge #1 Jurisdiction of Delaware, PHA, Palestine Chapter #3 Holy Royal Arch Masons PHA of Delaware, Leon H. Johnson Council #8 Royal and Select Masons PHA of Pennsylvania, Imperial Commandery #12 United Grand Commandery PHA of Pennsylvania, and John G. Lewis Priory #19 of Louisiana. Some of his Masonic accolades include Sovereign Grand Inspector General, Fred Lindsey Consistory No. 402, HPIP Phillip Berry, AI Mizan Temple No. 269 AEAONMC INC., Past Grand Commander, T.C. Almore Grand Commandery, Jurisdiction of Mississippi, and Past Grand Trice Illustrious Master, Grand Council Royal Select Masters, Jurisdiction,
Mississippi. Phillip loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
His family meant everything to him. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: a loving, devoted wife, Christine; five sons, Victor Berry (Tiffany) of Prince Frederick Maryland, Jerome Dunn(Jamie) of Brandon, Mississippi, Phillip Berry, Jr. (Sharen) of Dallas, Texas, Marcus Berry (LaTronseya) of Brandon, Mississippi, and Ahmad Berry of Jackson, Mississippi; two daughters, Philece Cary) Smith of Brandon, Mississippi and Phyllis Berry of Byram, Mississippi; one stepdaughter, Shereka Turner of Jackson, Mississippi; twenty-five grandchildren.
his best friend, Bennie Pugh; one God sister, Doris Devine; and a host of other relatives and friends including three special friends, Fred Nelson, Henry Cofield and Herman Holly.
