Phillip Westley Cope, 59, passed away suddenly after a long illness in Prunedale, California.

He was born in Salinas, California, to parents John Wesley Cope and Jessie Lou Cope. He attended Kings River Community College Reedley, CA for 2 years toward an AS degree in geology and business majors. Phil worked his way through college at a fruit processing plant in Reedly with various responsibilities, including cashier, forklift driver, inventory, quality control, machine operator, and telemarketing.

From 1999 to 2005, he and his brother, Christopher D. Cope, operated the Emerald Drywall Services business in Phoenix, Arizona. From 2005 to 2015, Phil was self-employed as a Drywall Subcontractor specializing in remodeling in Phoenix, Arizona. Phil was an avid meteorite hunter and collector. He would spend weekends tracking down meteor sightings in the desert around Phoenix, Arizona.He loved to go hiking in the hills around Phoenix and even out in the open desert.

In 2015, Phil moved back to California to live with family and friends until his passing.

In his later years, Phil suffered greatly from crippling rheumatoid Arthritis.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jack Harold Cope. He is survived by his brothers, Christopher Donald Cope of Surprise, Arizona; Carol Ray Cope of Prunedale California; sister-in-law's Pamela Cope and Tiffany Cope.

Also mourning his passing is his Aunt Nina Suttles of Visalia, California,

nephew Randall Cope and Randall's wife Melissa; Niece Rebecca Cope; great nephews

Hayden Cope, James Cope, Joshua Hubble and Henry Hubble and many cousins including Lynn Hudgins, Arnold Hudgins, Stanley Suttles, Cathy Suttles, Thomas Suttles, Donna Suttles, David Parker, Connie Parker and James Parker.
