ERNST
With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Phillip Scott Ernst, on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the age of 65, following a recent illness. Born December 28, 1959, in Columbus, Phil was a son of Emerson Ernst and Mary Catherine (Ryan) Ernst.
Phil went to work for Stanley Electric as a forklift driver where he devoted 31 years of service. A member of the F.O.E., Aerie #950, Phil was also an avid football fan and was sure to never miss a gameday when the Ohio State Buckeyes or the Cincinnati Bengals would play. Phil's grandkids were always his pride and joy. He enjoyed spending time with them and seeing what trouble they could find their way into. His infectious personality and passion for life was evident by his ability to light up any room he walked into in the true Ernst fashion. Phil's smile, laughter, and joyous demeanor will be forever remembered by those who knew him as we mourn the loss of such an inspirational and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and partner.
Phil leaves behind his daughter Jennifer (Brandon) Cassidy and son James Ernst; beloved grandchildren: Amelia and Alexander Cassidy, Hunter, Hayden, and Hudson Ortiz; brothers Steve Ernst and Robert (Terry) Ernst; many nieces and nephews; loving fiancée Sherry (Manns) Winans.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Jessica Ernst; grandson Harrison Ernst; brother Christopher Ernst; niece Brandy Keller.
Phil's family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 North Main Street, London, Ohio 43140. A funeral service will commence at 7:00 PM with Deacon Dan Hann officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Phil's name may be sent to benefit the Jessica Ernst Memorial Fund, c/o PNC Bank, London Branch, 30 West High Street, London, Ohio 43140.
Condolences and prayers for Phil's family are encouraged to be shared online at www.eberlefisherfuneralhome.com.
