Phillip Foster Fields, age 86, of Sanford, NC, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 11, 1939 in Lee County. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1958.

Phillip was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Genease Babb Fields; his son Phillip F. Fields, Jr; parents Wilber and Aileen Oldham Fields and his brothers Nick Fields and Jerry Fields.

He is survived by his son Kevin Fields and daughter-in-law Ginger Fields; his cherished grandchildren Jake Fields, Grace Fields, Luke Fields, Turner Davis and Caitlin Davis. He is also survived by his sister Patsy McAllister and husband Warren; In-Laws Ellen B. Allen, Charles and Sylvia Babb, Janet Babb, Ernest Sykes and Van Leaird, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Phillip was a life-long farmer and retired from GKN, where he worked as a skilled tool & die maker. He was a man who valued hard work and integrity, living his life with quiet strength and purpose. A steadfast and devout man, Phillip was known for his loyalty, dependability and deep love for his family.

He found great joy working the family farm where he spent countless hours, alongside Genease, Phillip Jr. and Kevin, raising tobacco and tending cattle - work that reflected both his character and love of the land. His legacy of dedication, faith and fierce devotion to his family will continue.

Phillip will be remembered with love, respect and gratitude by all who had the privilege to know him.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 18, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 19th at 2:00 PM at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Charland officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.
