Phillip Lynn Hawk

Phillip Lynn Hawk, age 76, of Parrottsville, TN, passed away of natural causes traveling in Florida on Thursday, February 19th, 2026.

Phillip was born on March 2, 1949, in Greeneville, TN, but spent his life in Parrottsville. He attended Parrottsville Elementary School and was in one of the last classes to graduate from Parrottsville High School before it closed. Phillip spent his youth helping on his family's farm and remained involved with farm life by working over five decades for Tennessee Farmers Co-op in four different counties.

He loved golfing, fishing and tending to his garden, where his green thumb was evident to all who knew him. A loyal Tennessee Volunteers fan, he rarely missed a game and cherished time spent with his beloved dog, Daisy. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, sensitivity, and kindness to all. He always had oldies music playing on the radio. Phillip took a lot of joy in being a dad and papaw, lighting up whenever talking about his kids and grandkids. He would do anything for anyone and never met a stranger. He loved the Lord, and though his family misses him, they take comfort in knowing he is with his Savior and reunited with Mary, his wife of 39 years. Phillip was very loved and, in turn, loved others.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hawk; his parents, Emma Helen Hawk and Walter Haskell Hawk; his brothers, Walter Hawk, Guy Hawk, Billy "Bill" Hawk, and his sister, Rosalee Ball.

Phillip is survived by his son, Chad Hawk (Sarah) and their children Lily, Ellis and Ethan of Hoover, AL; his daughter, Kimmie Valentine (Zac) of Parrottsville, TN; his sister-in-law, Martha Hawk; his brother-in-law, Frank Suggs, and his wife, Dorothy "Dottie" Suggs; several nieces and nephews; many cherished friends; and loving companion, Phyllis Douglas, and her family, whom he loved like his own.

Visitation will be held at Manes Funeral Home Newport, TN, Friday, February 27 from 5 to 7 PM followed immediately by a service. The burial is to be held Saturday, February 28 at 10 AM. in the Suggs Cemetery.
