Phillip Gary Melinie

Phillip Gary Melinie passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 79. He was born on Monday, February 17, 1947 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Esther Kohnke Melinie and the late Lester Joseph Melinie, Sr. He was a resident of Gonzales, Louisiana. Phillip enlisted in the US Army in March of 1966 and served his country until March of 1972.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Cynthia W. Melinie; brother, Warren J. Melinie, Sr.; nephews, Warren Melinie, Jr. and Kenny Melinie; niece, Christina Chauvin; great-nieces, Kristan Lee and Kali Baker; and numerous cousins, who he loved like siblings.

In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his two brothers, Lester J. Melinie, Jr. and Thomas F. Melinie, Sr.; sister-in-law, Juanita Melinie; nephew, Thomas F. Melinie, Jr.; and great-nephew, Michael Silvestri, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM until the memorial service begins at 1:00 PM.

Interment will follow in Ponchatoula Cemetery, Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Louisiana Diabetes Foundation in Phillips name.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge for their exceptional care during this difficult time.
