A funeral Mass celebrating the life of Mr. Phillip Randall Rugg II, 47, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Monroe, LA, with the Very Rev. Peter Mangum and Deacon Tom Deal officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Rosary will be recited during the vigil at 7 P.M. with Deacon Chris Domingue officiating at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA. Interment will be at Northeast Louisiana Veterans’ Cemetery in Rayville, LA.
Randall was born April 26, 1977, in Monroe, LA, and passed away August 17, 2024, in Monroe, LA. He was a member of Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, active in the ACTS Community, a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and was devoted to the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
Randall was a proud graduate of Saint Frederick High School. Following his graduation, he attended Louisiana Tech University. In 1999 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving our country in Iraq. During his service he received multiple recognitions including the Purple Heart Service Medal.
Upon his retirement from the United States Marine Corps with the rank of Sergeant, Randall attended ULM obtaining a degree in Accounting. He enjoyed coaching his sons and other youth in the Monroe Youth Baseball Association. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends.
Randall is preceded in death by his grandparents; Mary Elizabeth Falletta and Raymond and Euna Rugg.
Survivors include his wife, Nicol Rugg; two sons, Trey Rugg and Cam Rugg; mother, Jan Rugg (Jackie Jones); father, Phillip Rugg; father and mother-in-law, Billy and Odessa Freeman; siblings, Ashley Allen (David), Seth Rugg (Rebecca), and Rachal Rugg; and niece, Mary Elizabeth Allen.
The pallbearers will be Brad Bourgeois, Andrew Prince, Brandon Parker, Michael Mahaffey, Jeff Fontana, Charly Fontana, Mike Brodtman, and Brian McCarthy.
