75, of Mooresville, passed away on October 25, 2023, at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis. Phil was born on December 16, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Robert T. Spaulding and Jeanne E. (Edwards) Spaulding.
Phil proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Army. After service, Phil worked as a veterinary technician for the Mooresville Vet Hospital, later St. Francis Vet Hospital for 34 years. He then worked as a corrections officer for the Indiana Department of Corrections for many years, retiring in 2012. He married the love of his life, Cynthia (Peasley) Spaulding on September 22, 1978, and recently celebrated their 45th Anniversary. He enjoyed spending time fishing and watching TV, especially Sci-Fi movies and shows about wildlife animals.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Wallace Spaulding, sisters Jeanne Spaulding, and Suellen Wood.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cynthia Spaulding; sons Norman W. Spaulding, Benjamin A. Spaulding, Phillip R. Spaulding (Linzie), Cameron “Shane” Fleenor (Laura), Jeremy Fleenor; daughter Shannon Burcham; sisters Becky Shannon, Karen Patterson; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Phil’s life on Sunday, October 29th from 2-6pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 30th at 10am in the funeral home. Burial will follow the services in Mooresville Cemetery.
