Phillip Boyd Sumner, age 69, passed away February 21, 2026. He was the son of the late Leroy Boyd Sumner and Jewel Lanford Sumner. He was born on November 26, 1956.
Phillip is survived by his wife of 24 years, Janet Kelly; his son Michael Sumner (Brandy); his loving daughter-in-law, Tara Trantham; a grandson that he loved with all his heart, Christian Boyd Sumner; his daughter Stacy Sumner; his sisters, Cathie Taylor of Clinton, SC and Rosanne Montjoy of Blackville, SC.
In addition to his parents, Phillip is preceded in death by his brother, Walter Eugene Sumner.
Phillip enjoyed fishing on the Santee River with his fishing buddy, Jerry G. Montjoy.
A memorial service is planned for a later date.
