Phillip Reedy Thacker, age 73, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 20, 2025. Phillip was born and raised in Gadsden, Alabama. A memorial service will be held at Crestwood Funeral Home on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
Phillip was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, and devoted husband to his soulmate of 47 years, Mary Melissa Thacker.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Melissa, his parents Carol Dooley West, Nathan Reedy Thacker, and James Stanley West; his father-in-law Oren Eugene McCallie, and mother-in-law Helen McCallie.
Phillip's memory will be cherished by his son, Daniel Riley Thacker, daughter-in-law Shelby Thacker, and his precious grandsons, Riley James Thacker and Sawyer Jareth Shelby Thacker.
He is also survived by his sisters, Ann Thacker King (Bruce, deceased), and Denise Thacker Watford (Scott); sister-in-law Lou Bush (Brian, deceased), brother-in-law Jed McCallie (Terri), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Phillip grew up with a passion for motorcycles-he loved building, rebuilding, and riding them. He was a gifted musician who played by ear and an accomplished artist. He had a special talent for creating beautiful bonsai trees from ordinary shrubbery.
He also loved cooking and traveling with his family. After retiring from his career as a draftsman, Phillip brought joy to children each year by playing Santa-or "HoHo," as his grandsons lovingly called him-at family Christmas gatherings.
He will be deeply missed here on earth, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Family requests in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
