BASTROP, LOUISIANA
Mr. Phillip Jeffery Thomas was born in Delhi, Louisiana on November 9, 1953 to the late E.J. Thomas and Ruby Doris Pritchard Thomas. He passed away, with his family by his side, on January 2, 2026 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Mr. Thomas was an Army combat veteran, having served during the Kuwait Liberation and the Iraq War in 1990 during Desert Storm and Desert Shield. He was also a Master Mason, a Shriner, and former pipeline welder. Phillip was also a longtime resident of East Texas and recently resided in Winnsboro, Louisiana.
Along with his parents Mr. Thomas is preceded in death by his brother, Donn Eugene Thomas; a sister-in-law, Louella Thomas; his brother-in-law, Lukie Kemp; and a nephew, Andrew Thomas.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his son Bart Thomas and his wife, Jessie of Winnsboro, Louisiana; granddaughter, Brooke Roberson; grandson, Blake Roberson; a brother, Emmett Thomas and his wife, Anita; two sisters, Shirley Kemp and Sue Wilson and her husband, George; sister-in-law, Julia Thomas; and adopted family members and devoted caregivers, Felicia Gilliam, Misty Chapman, and Beth Ezell. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 beginning at 2:00 PM. followed by funeral services with military honors at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop, Louisiana. Committal services and burial will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 10th, at the Bullard Memorial Park Cemetery in Bullard, Texas under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
