Phoebe Jane Williams Craven, 89, of Cornelius died April 17, 2025. She
was born on November 17, 1935 in Franklinville, Randolph County to
the late Clyde Leroy Williams and Margaret Buie Williams.
Phoebe graduated from Lees-McRae College in 1955 with a medical
secretary degree. She enjoyed a long career in Charlotte and later was
an on-line medical transcriptionist working until she was 78. She and
Howard moved to Charlotte in 1957 after marriage and their children
were born and raised in Charlotte. She had many friends, co-workers,
neighbors and family whom she loved deeply.
Her husband Charles (Howard) Craven, Sr. preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters Melanie Griffith (Danny) of Cornelius, Meg
Craven (Donald Groce) of Greensboro; sons Chuck Craven (Susan) of
Maiden and Rob Craven (Karen Gordon) of York, SC. Brother-in-law
Jim Craven of Oak Island. Six grandchildren, Chase (Kasie), Adam
(Dani), Melissa (Jeremy), CJ, Lexie, Travis. Two great grandchildren
Jayden and Caysen.
Services will be private.
James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
