Phoebe “Kay” Sanders

Phoebe “Kay” Sanders, 87, of Shoals, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025 at her residence.
Born January 31, 1938, in Rutherford Township, she was the daughter of Raymond Charles and Alice Jane (Street) Ziegler.
She married Gerald Sanders on November 17, 1956 in Shoals, and he survives.
Kay was a Pastor’s wife and worked in home health.
She attended Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church and was a member of Poplar Grove Wesleyan Church.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband of 68 years, Gerald; children, Phyllis Kay Warner, Karla Faye Henry, and Douglas Lee (Valerie) Sanders; grandchildren, Dawna Marie Haswell, Gerald Michael (Amanda) Sanders, Charles Edward Sanders, and Ellis Richard (Julie) Haswell; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Raymond G. Warner; sons-in-law, Ralph Warner and Charles William “Bill” Henry; sisters, Clara Denny and Vondale Hopkins; and brothers, Charles Ziegler and Robert Ziegler.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care in Shoals with Pastor Dan Gormong. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour on Tuesday at the Queen-Lee Chapel, Shoals.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Poplar Grove Wesleyan Church.
