Phyllis Benson Arner

The staff of Heishman Funeral Home/Valley Funeral Service sends condolences to the family of Ms. Phyllis Benson Arner. Phyllis Benson Arner, age 97, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, in Woodstock, Virginia. She is survived by her daughter Jane, and sons Samuel, Robert, and Thomas. Her eldest son, George, preceded her in death in 2015. Also, she had a granddaughter, Allison, and a grandson, Alex. Born in Conneaut, Ohio in 1928, Phyllis was the last surviving sibling among five brothers: Robert, Al, Noel, Frank, and Jack. She attended Lake Erie College and was married to Frederick until 1986. Phyllis was a devoted homemaker with a deep love for music. She taught music both privately and in public schools, and was an active member of choirs and various musical ensembles throughout her life in Washington D.C. and Bethesda, MD. Two private celebrations of life will be held with immediate family. In her memory, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
