Auburn - Phyllis Bissonnette (Lucey), age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Center, Worcester. She was born on September 5, 1939, in Worcester to Harry F. Lucey and Josephine R. Lucey (O’Connor). She is survived by her son, David Bissonnette and his wife, Jennifer; her son, Steven Bissonnette; her grandchildren, Michael Bissonnette, Sarah Bissonnette and Zoë Ferreira; her nieces, Judy Brosnihan, Joyce Golden, Joanne Audette and numerous other nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her sisters, Barbara Harrington, Dianne Godin, Marilyn Lucey-Brzoza and by her brothers, Harry F. Lucey Jr. and John Lucey.
Phyllis was a 1957 graduate of North High School in Worcester and a graduate of Worcester State College in 1961 with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught kindergarden at Cambridge Street School until 1968.
On June 27, 1964, Phyllis married the love of her life, Albert “Red” Bissonnette at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Worcester, MA. Phyllis left teaching in 1968 to take care of her children. When her youngest son started school, Phyllis returned to the work force and went to work for her family business as the officer manager at New England Engine and Parts Warehouse until her retirement in 2009.
Phyllis loved to cook for her family and was legendary for her Christmas treat boxes that she gave out to every member of her family. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
Calling hours will be held at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St. Holden, MA on Wednesday, July 30 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 194 Oxford St. N, Auburn, MA on Thursday, July 31 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Worcester Men of Song and the Doug Flutie foundation for Autism.
