Obituary Phyllis Louise Carter
On Sunday, December 28, 2025, Phyllis Louise Carter, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, returned peacefully to her heavenly home at the age of 89. She was surrounded by her family.
Phyllis was born on May 12, 1936, to Alma Larkin and Rennis Andersen. She was raised in Snowville, Utah, on her family farm, where she learned the value of hard work. Phyllis attended elementary school in Snowville and graduated from Bear River High School in Tremonton. She continued her education at BYU where she graduated with a degree in business education and minor in accounting. Phyllis married Lee Don Carter on July 11, 1961, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They raised four fine boys and were actively involved in each of their lives – supporting them in Boy Scouts, Little League, track, basketball, baseball, choir and band.
Phyllis was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and faithfully served in many capacities and leadership positions at both the Ward and Stake levels. She had a heart for service, easily made friends, and was known for her kindness, compassion and hard work. She loved her family's history and recorded much of it for her posterity. She and Don served many years as ordinance workers in the Idaho Falls Temple. They also served a mission together in Tampa Florida.
Phyllis loved music and passed that love onto her children. She enjoyed playing the trombone in her high school band and singing in both her high school choir and ward choir. She was a school teacher for a few years before she was married and again later in life as well. She made a positive difference in the lives of many students she connected with over those years. Phyllis loved to sew and quilt. She created many baby blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her blankets were popular raffle items at family reunions.
Phyllis's greatest joy was her family. Her home was a gathering place where children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren always felt welcome. She deeply loved each one and was immensely proud of all of them. She always encouraged them in whatever they were working hard to accomplish. She was a true motivator, problem solver and beautiful example of Christlike love, tolerance and forgiveness. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents Alma and Rennis Larkin; her three siblings, Florence Hall, Joe Larkin, LaNez Plummer; and one granddaughter Stephanie Carter.
She is survived by her eternal companion Don, her four boys, Michael (Lisa), David (Shelby), James (Lynette) and Steven (Marisa), 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
We celebrate her beautiful life and legacy and find peace and comfort in knowing that families are forever.

Just last week we made cookies from my Grandma´s (Edith) recipes - her sugar recipe was from Phylis. She was a wonderful friend to all and made everyone feel so special. She will be remember by so many and we will pass her cookie recipe on for generations.
