Michelle Browning Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wing Mortuary - Lehi on Mar. 30, 2026.
Michelle "Chell Bell" Fox Browning, 67, of American Fork, passed away peacefully at her home on March 25, 2026. She was born on September 23, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Bill and Tricia Fox. She was born with congenital hip dysplasia, which led to a lifetime of surgeries and pain. Despite significant physical trials, she lived a wonderful and joyous life.

Michelle's family moved to New Jersey when she was three years old. Her little brother, Greg, was born there and they later moved to California when Michelle was seven. Most of their time in California was spent in Huntington Beach. Her parents bought their first piano when Michelle was seven, and she began taking lessons. By the age of twelve, she was serving as the pianist for the young children in her church. She also played the flute in her high school band and loved singing whenever she had the opportunity. She later taught piano lessons for many years. Music was an integral part of who she was. Michelle graduated in 1976 from Marina High School.

Michelle met her husband and eternal companion, George Stephen Browning, while attending Brigham Young University. She knew right away that she was not going to let this handsome man get away. She faithfully waited for Steve while he served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He proposed the day he returned home, and six weeks later they were married in the Los Angeles Temple on August 1, 1980.

They were blessed with twin baby boys, Brendon and Bryant, on June 2, 1981, and two years later, a daughter, Lauren, on November 22, 1983. Michelle always hoped for many children, but following the birth of her daughter, she developed cancer, which resulted in a hysterectomy. Despite this loss, her family remained her greatest source of joy. Among her most treasured moments were those spent with her loved ones at their beloved cabin and exploring the beauty of Yellowstone National Park in search of bears.

She became a grandmother in 2006 and leaves behind six granddaughters and one grandson. Being a grandmother was one of her greatest joys, and she often said there was nothing better.

Michelle had a deep compassion for those facing hardship. She loved her work at Summit High School and kept a special place in her heart for the students with additional needs. Having endured many health challenges herself, she possessed a remarkable empathy and a gift for understanding and helping others. She was especially known for her ability to listen with kindness and care.

She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend, and she will be deeply missed. We love you, Chell Bell.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Fox; her father-in-law, George Browning; and her mother-in-law, Margene Edith Boothe. She is survived by her mother, Tricia Fox; her sweetheart, Steve Browning; her siblings, Greg Fox, Char Jeffries, and Sandy Liddell; and her three children and their families: Bryant and Tawna Browning; Brendon and Crystal Browning, with their children Brielle, Aislynn, Zander, and Eviana; and Lauren and Jordan Earl, with their children Olivia, Ellsie, and Amelia.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3rd at 11:00 am with a viewing from 9:30 until 10:30 am. There will also be a viewing the night before (April 2nd) from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The services will be held at a local Stake Center - 688 W 500 N American Fork, UT. Please feel free to wear your happiest colors. Michelle would love that!
