Phyllis I. Cordell, age 91 of Marion, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Heartland of Marion. On February 9, 1930, she was born in Hardin County to the late John T. and Luesia (Sparks) Meade, and on September 13, 1946, she married her late husband, Walter H. Cordell, Jr.
Phyllis worked as a home health nurse for several years. She was a godly woman who loved serving people, and she was a great mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her sons John (Janice) Cordell, Joe (Jackie) Cordell, Walter Cordell III, Danny (Linda) Cordell, Raymond (Debbie) Cordell, and Mark Cordell; his daughters Sheryl Turner, Carol (Ed) Foreman, Brenda (Keith) Gattshall, and Belinda Scheff; 35 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter H. Cordell, Jr; her parents John and Luesia Meade; her sons Randy and Charles; her daughter Bernice Utt; and her brothers Gene, Robert, Roy, Monroe, and William.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Boyd Funeral Home. Services will follow at 6 pm. Burial will take place on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 10 am at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
