Phyllis D'Urso (nee Trotta) passed away peacefully with family by her side on August 10th, 2024. She was 81 years old. Phyllis was born in New York City on April 30th, 1943 to Nancy and Anthony Trotta and grew up in the Bronx. She married the love of her life, Joseph on October 3, 1964.
Phyllis had a career in sales & interior design at Samsondale Furniture for many years. She also taught CCD, was elected to the Parish Council at St. Anthony's in Northvale, NJ, was President of the Northvale PTA, and served on the North Rockland Board of Education, in addition to being a Girl Scout troop leader.
Phyllis loved entertaining friends and family and traveling with Joe but was happiest spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was always up for a game of Scrabble or Uno and in recent months did just about every activity offered at the assisted living where she lived - she especially loved arts and crafts, bible study, book club, and mock trial. Despite only living there for a brief time, Phyllis made many friends and was known for her positive attitude, kindness, and sense of humor.
Phyllis is survived by her four children, Dina and her husband John McKenna, Nancy and her husband Steven DeVico, Joseph and his wife Mary, and Kristin. She will be greatly missed by her "Sweet Seven" cherished grandchildren John, Anthony, Ryan, Lauren, Joey, Max, and Liam.
Family will receive friends on Thursday from 2pm – 4pm and 7pm – 9pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. Mass will be held on Friday, 11am, at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, Garnerville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cathedral High School, which Phyllis proudly attended. https://www.cathedralhs.org/donate

I will always remember the many times Phyllis and I shared when she only had two of her children, Dina and Nancy, and I had my four children. Later in life we gathered with our adult daughters. I will miss Phyllis. My condolences to her loving family.

Our condolences to the family on the loss of Phyllis. We are her good friends from the assisted-living as well as her lunch and dinner mates. We had such a good time getting to know each other, and we will miss her very much.
