Phyllis “Kimberley” Eichman, 66, of Palco, Kansas, passed away on February 24, 2026, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.
Kimberly was born on September 28, 1959, in Russell, Kansas, to Phillip Madden and Marjorie “Marge” (Pooly) Madden-Graham. She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 1978.
Kimberly dedicated much of her life to serving her community. She worked for USD 269 for 23 years and also devoted 25+ years to the Palco Public Library, where she especially enjoyed teaching story hour and sharing her love of reading with children. Her kindness, humor, and spirited personality made her a familiar and cherished presence to many.
In 1985, she married Harold Eichman; they later divorced. Kimberly found her greatest joy in her family. She loved crafting with her grandchildren, hunting for treasures at garage sales, taking drives while listening to music, and traveling with her children. She was known for her playful sense of humor — including good-naturedly “yelling” at her kids (not that they deserved it!) — and for the deep love she had for each of them.
She is survived by her children: Michael (Kasey) Eichman of Prairie View, KS, Bryant (Rachelle) Eichman of Ellis, KS, and Travis Eichman of Palco; sisters, Cindy Madden and Penny Riedel (Tom) of Russell; four grandchildren, Ava, Amber, Madilyn, and William Eichman; and her nieces and nephews, Kayla, Joshua, Dustin, Dylan, and Nathan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, William David Eichman; and her sister, Cathy Langerman.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 2PM with visitation at 1PM prior to the service at the funeral home in Plainville. A private family burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Palco Public Library and may be sent to Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 320 SW 2nd, Plainville, KS 67663.
