Phyllis Ann Elmore Gable, age 82, of New Castle, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and her beloved dog, Catoe.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wendell Lee Gable; and her parents, Grady and Thelma Elmore.
Phyllis was a devoted and longtime employee of the New Castle High School cafeteria and Camp on Craig. Her dedication, kindness, and familiar presence in the community will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her loving sister, Bonnie (Tony) Frango; her three daughters, Annette (Randall) Price, Deanne (Doug) Sowers, and Denise (Richard Jr.) Carr; grandchildren, Justin (Sara) Gable, Kaitlin Sowers (Ben), Shaun Price, Kayla (Peter) Flaherty, Joshua Price, Aaron Price, Victoria Carr, Elizabeth Carr (Nick), and Stephanie Carr; and six cherished great-grandchildren.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Luann Freese, a dear friend and caregiver, as well as to Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Paitsel Funeral Home, officiated by Brother Richard Carr, Sr. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Huffman Memorial Park in New Castle, Virginia.
The family invites donations to be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice or The Alzheimer's Association, in memory of Phyllis.
Paitsel Funeral Home of New Castle is serving the family of Mrs. Gable.
