She mustered out of the Army, April 20, 1960 and became a housewife raising her two children, Janey Loree and Douglas Wayne. She was a homemaker, published author and illustrator, a master gardener, painter and prayer warrior.

Phyllis Mae is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, George Harvey; her father, Walter Ray; her mother, Mary Nim; her siblings, Mary Elizabeth, Shirley Ann, Elmer Ray, Walter Nim, and Marjorie Alice; her granddaughter, Christina Dawn, and her son-n-law, Shot Paschal.
