Phyllis L. Fulks

Phyllis L. Fulks, 85 years old, of Milan, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at The Baptist Home in Chillicothe, Missouri. Phyllis was born on November 6, 1930 in Laurel, Montana to Burton and Opal (Miller) Long. She married James Edward "Jug" Fulks on April 23, 1949 in Trenton, Missouri, he preceded her in death on November 22, 2015. She is survived by: one son, Mark Fulks and wife Janelle of Liberty, Missouri; one daughter, Sharon Rardon of Chillicothe, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Matt Rardon and wife Michelle, April McQuillen and husband Paul, Michelle Bushey and husband Steve, Chad Fulks and wife Lauren, and Blake Fulks and wife Triumfia; 11 great grandchildren, Trace, Taylor, Jaxon, Jamie, Abbi, Henry, Peter, Bryson, Ellie, Kensie, and James; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; one son, Donnie Fulks; a son-in-law, Mike Rardon; two sisters, Mary Cleo Chiatovich, and Opal Fern Claus. Phyllis lived most of her life in Sullivan County. Before getting married, she was employed by Mary & Dell's in Reno, Nevada and BMA in Kansas City. After marrying she was a farm wife, but she refused to haul big bales until Jug bought an air conditioned pick-up, so he did. She also did soil testing for Sullivan County Extension for a time. Phyllis was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Milan, working with Baptist Women's Group and Vacation Bible School, also was in JayCee Wives Club. Phyllis liked to garden, grow flowers and take care of her yard. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a constant care giver for her husband and son, Donnie, and also caring for anyone who needed it. A funeral service for Phyllis will be held 4:00 PM, Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Milan. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service, starting at 3:00 PM. Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Baptist Home.
