Phyllis Lee Grasmick passed away on May 18, 2025 at her home in Delta. She was 78 years old.
Phyllis was born on December 28th, 1946, in Vici, Oklahoma to Esther Lee and Woodrow Baldwin. After her father's sudden death when she was barely a year old, Phyllis moved to Montrose, Colorado where she was raised by her uncle Chet and aunt Matilda (Auntie) Turner. She attended Oak Grove school and graduated from Montrose High School in 1964. She went on to attend cosmetology school in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Phyllis married her first husband George (Bill) Redden in Delta, Colorado in 1966 and they had three children together. They later divorced. Phyllis re-married in 1989 to Gary Grasmick in Cedaredge. They then lived in Buena Vista, CO for four years before moving back to Delta where they have lived for the last 32 years. They would have celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on May 22nd, 2025.
Phyllis worked as a beautician for a few years after college until she started having children. Once the kids were in their teens she went back to work in the customer service industry at Hardee's and Carl's Jr. and then worked at Walmart in Delta until her retirement in 2015.
Phyllis was a bright light to all that met her. She always had a warm welcoming smile to greet you with and laughter that could fill a room with so much joy. She enjoyed being with her family, watching westerns and game shows, and she loved to be around all their many animals at home including petting the dogs and listening to the birds sing.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Grasmick of Delta, CO. Her three children and their spouses, Rick Redden of Lordsburg, NM, Nick and Heather Redden of Delta, CO, and Brenda Redden and Jeff Bigham of Delta, CO. Three stepdaughters and their spouses, Kim and Dan Hubsky, Stacy and Scott Gardner, and Carissa and Keith Hodson. As well as her sister Jo Ann Young of Rockport, IL, and two brothers Bob Hunter and Donald Hunter of Oklahoma. Phyllis is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer Redden, Bret Bigham, Cory Bigham, Ricky Redden, Bobbie Kennell, Tylor Redden, Morgan Redden, Christopher Hubsky, Ashlee Ingram, Brooke Gardner, Lindsey Jensen, Kristin Estrada, Hannah Gardner, Natasha Patterson, and Rebecca Bergsrud and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, her first husband, Bill, her sister Kathryn Baldwin, and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., July 19th at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1000 Pioneer Road Delta, CO.
