Phyllis Williams Green was a generous and selfless woman whose life was defined by love, service, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. Vibrant, energetic, and naturally outgoing, Phyllis had a rare gift for uplifting everyone she encountered. Her warmth and compassion left a lasting impression on family, friends, colleagues, and the many lives she touched through her work and caregiving.
Phyllis was born on May 15, 1949, in
Pensacola, Florida, to Wadsworth Williams Sr. and Alberta Williams. She was raised alongside her siblings, Wadsworth (Tony) Williams Jr. (preceded in death) and Beth Williams, with whom she shared a lifelong bond. From an early age, Phyllis demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and care for others and qualities that would guide her throughout her life.
She pursued higher education at Shaw University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work, graduating Cum Laude. Her dedication to excellence and service led to numerous awards and recognitions over the course of her career. Phyllis worked as a group home supervisor and devoted many years as a foster parent, opening her home and heart to countless children. She created a nurturing environment filled with structure, guidance, and unconditional love, ensuring that every child felt valued and supported.
Family was at the center of Phyllis's life. She was married to Theodore M. Green, who preceded her in death. Phyllis was also preceded in death by her children Terrance R. Williams and Regina Green, her brother Wadsworth (Tony) Williams Jr., and her parents, Wadsworth Williams Sr. and Alberta Williams.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted sister, Beth Williams; her loving daughter, Trenna Williams-Belin (Dwane); her stepsons, Greg Green (Danette) and Roverick Green (Danielle); and her stepdaughter, Sandra Dockery. She also leaves behind her beloved grandsons, Diondre Speaks and Terian Williams. Phyllis's legacy of love extends to her cherished bonus children: Ruby Harvin, Michele Burgin, Jaden Orr, Ollie Hoffman, Lavonzia (Tootie) Thompson, and Jade Thompson, along with a host of extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will miss her dearly.
Phyllis Williams Green will be remembered for her generous spirit, her tireless service to others, and the profound love she shared so freely. Her life was a testament to compassion, resilience, and the power of caring for others, and her legacy will continue to live on in the many lives she shaped.
