Phyllis Grover Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DeBaun Funeral Homes & Crematory - Springhill Chapel on Jan. 28, 2026.
Phyllis Jean Grover passed away on January 23, 2026. She was born on April 21, 1939 in Terre Haute to Charles and Mary Cromer.

Phyllis was the quiet heart of our family - a gentle soul whose love spoke volumes even when words were few. Phyllis built bridges of friendship that lasted a lifetime, nurturing bonds that stretched far beyond the family circle. Even after 80 years, her childhood friends felt the warmth of her kindness and the strength of her loyalty. Her hugs were strong, her laughter was soft, and her eyes shimmered with pride whenever she spoke of her children and grandchildren. Both Phyllis and husband Thom were the living definition of Christ's call to devotion, selflessness and sacrifice: they had opened their hearts and welcomed two children into their lives through the blessing of adoption - Tom "Tommy' at age 3 months while living in California, then Charlynn at 2.5 years old after they had moved back to the Midwest. It takes a rare and beautiful person to look at a stranger's child and call that child their own: that was Phyllis, and that was Thom. It is no wonder that together, they were an amazing team.

We love you, Phyllis. We miss you.

You did good, Mom.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Thomas E. Grover, and is survived by her older sister Carol Stultz, son Thomas A. Grover (Christina) and daughter Charlynn Lucid.

Phyllis has 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Phyllis requests that a donation be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society in her memory.
