Phyllis B. Gruenhagen

Phyllis B. Gruenhagen, age 89, of Gibbon, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025 at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon, with Father Brian Oestreich celebrating the mass. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Moltke Township.

Visitation will be 9:30 – 11 am Friday at the Church.

Minnesota Valley Funeral Home of Gibbon is assisting the family.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Scott (Gail Minehart) Gruenhagen, Denise (Daniel) Griep, and Tracy Gruenhagen; grandchildren, Ellison (Liles), Rose (Kevin), Jack (Laura), Hannah (Chris), Mary and Paige; great-grandchildren, Finn and Lewis; and sister-in-law, Dory Schreiner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 2020; her parents; sister, Marcella (John); and brothers, Elmer (Doris), Walter (Helena), Lawrence (Jean), and LeRoy.

Phyllis Barbara Schreiner was born on March 1, 1936 to Ludwig & Catherine (Brey) Schreiner in New Ulm. She graduated from Gibbon High School in 1955. Phyllis married Richard Gruenhagen on August 17, 1957 at Saint Willibrord's in Gibbon. She farmed with Richard on the family farm while also selling insurance to many area farmers, clients, and friends. Phyllis was a member of St. Willibrord's where she was very active, including serving on various committees. She enjoyed playing cards, socializing with family and many friends, and playing various sports in her younger years, including softball and bowling.
