Phyllis Gustafson

Phyllis Gustafson, age 75, of Bryant, SD passed away Monday, April 15, 2024 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 2 pm at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Bryant with visitation being held from noon to 2 pm. Following burial at Garfield Cemetery of Bryant, refreshments will be served at the church fellowship hall.
Phyllis "Fishy" Lee Gustafson was born April 4, 1949, to Lyle and Theresa Bickett at Ramona, SD. She grew up and attended school in the Oldham area and graduated from Oldham High School. Phyllis then attended General Beatle College in Madison SD for secretarial.
She met Alan Gustafson and married on June 26, 1970. The couple moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where she was employed with an insurance agency. In 1972 the couple returned to the Willow Lake area and began farming and later moving to Bryant to the family farm. She worked at the Citizen State Bank in Vienna and later for Dacotah Bank in Willow Lake.
She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant, was a member of the Willow Lake Lions Club, and was Treasurer of the Garfield Cemetery. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, trips with her sister and friends to various destinations, and going to various activities for her grandkids and great- grandkids; where she enjoyed cheering them on and spending time with them. She was a very caring person who put everyone's needs in front of her own. She cared for everyone she met and always had a smile and conversation with anyone she ran into.
Grateful for having shared her life was a son, Thomas (Mandy), Isanti, MN; and daughter Crystal (Robert) Runge, Brookings, SD. 12 grandchildren – Samantha, Mackenzie, Braedon, and Kristofer from Isanti, MN; Jadyn and Carter Runge, Brookings, SD, Jared (Ashley) Runge, Brookings, SD; Ashlee (Micheal) O'Kane, Hartford, SD; Trey Sholes, Brookings, SD; Tristen Sholes, Volga, SD; Kasey Gustafson, Watertown, SD; Cole Poppen, Badger, SD; and 6 great-grandchildren – Bentley and Evelynn Huber, Watertown, SD; Halle and Sadie O'Kane, Hartford, SD; Madyson Oines, Brookings, SD; Griffin Runge, Brookings SD; her brothers Daniel (Holly) Bickett, Oldham, SD, Don (Melba) Bickett, Oldham, SD; Jeff Bickett, Oldham, SD and her sisters Lynn (Jim) Hodgson, Lemmon, SD; Audrey (Dwight) Jenson, Sioux Falls, SD.
