Phyllis Hamilton departed this life on October 31, 2024, in Dayton, Ohio. Phyllis was a cherished mother, sister, aunt, and Friend to many. Known for her warmth and compassion, Phyllis earned her Nursing Assistant Certificate in 1984 and spent her life in service to others. She brought joy to those around her, living each day to the fullest and treasuring time with her family.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her beloved parents, McKevious and Mary Black; her husband, Willie Hamilton; her son, Darryl “Buster” Black; grandson, Courtney Aaron Williams; and her siblings, Donald Black, Florence Jackson, Wanda Hodges, and Maxine Belk.
Phyllis leaves behind her loving son, John “Johnny” Black (Rita); her siblings, Marilyn Hayes (Earl), Michael Black, Raymond Black (Jeanette), Douglas Black, Kathy Allen (William), grandchildren, Lamarr Townes, De’Amber Black-Galloway (Don), Ravien Black, Ryan Williams (Courtney), Ch’loe Hines, great-grandchildren, Jeremiah galloway, Cavell Williams, Jamir Galloway, TaLeah Galloway, Johnnie Lawson, Alyssa Black, Skylar Harper, Jesiah Galloway, and Lou Ella Lawson; special cousin, Tracie Larry; and a large loving extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends. Phyllis’s legacy of kindness, resilience, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 am -11:30 am on Thursday, November 13, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Kettering, OH 45439. Funeral Service will be officiated at 11:30 am following visitation. Phyllis will be laid to rest with her husband, Willie Hamilton at Dayton National Cemetery.
