Phyllis D. (“Moon” Parish) Heck, 78, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 4, 1948, in Shelbyville, IN to Evert R. Parish and Marion Mae (Corley) Hague.
Phyllis graduated from Shelbyville High School with the Class of 1966. She worked at Mr. Video for quite awhile before starting at Shelbyville Foot Clinic, where she spent over 15 years before retiring. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and working puzzles. Phyllis was very outgoing and usually the life of the party. Sometimes even being a jokester and playing tricks on friends. She was a member of the Lively Lassies Home Economics club and was an outstanding cook. Phyllis and Larry made some great lifelong friends with their neighbors while living on Anderson Street. She also enjoyed hosting the Mexican Train Parties every Wednesday and loved sharing a meal with her friends. Family was always the most important to her. One of her top priorities was instilling that same value into her family members.
She married Larry H. Heck on August 12, 1966 and he survives. They shared 59 loving years of marriage together.
She is also survived by her daughter, Linda (husband, Travis) Jefferson; her grandson, Bradley Maza (Tori Gaynor); granddaughters, Emily Maza (Jay Gonzalez) and Katelyn Jefferson; one great-grandchild and another one on the way; brother, Charles (wife, Marlene) Hague; sister, Vanetta Walter; half-sister, Rosemary Hodson; half-brother, Tom Parrish; half-sister, Sharon Kramer; sisters-in-law, Terri (husband, Darrell) Law and Nancy Heck; aunt, Shirley Burch; uncle, Leon Corley; several nieces and nephews; beloved dogs, Charlie and Danny.
She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents, Robert and Alpha Mae (Herndon) Corley; step-dad, Orville Hague; half-sister, Beverly Fleenor; half-brother, Buddy Parrish; uncles, Gene Corley and Rex Corley; brothers-in-law, Danny Walters, Daniel Christopher Heck and Billy Joe Heck; her beloved dogs, Acie and Shadow.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 11 am at the funeral home.
Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Phyllis’s family.
