Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - OlathePhyllis J. (Becker) Lewis, 93 of Olathe, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025. She was born on June 6, 1932 to Wilfred and Evelyn Becker in McPherson, Kansas. She graduated from Osborne High School in 1950 and then went to Brown Mackie Business School in Salina, KS.
She moved to Wichita, KS where she met and married the love of her life, John Lewis, on January 31, 1953. Phyllis worked for the Johnson County, Kansas Appraiser’s Office followed by 20 years of service, for the Johnson County, Kansas Treasurer’s Office.
Phyllis was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Olathe, a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and a member of the Big O’s Square Dance Club. Phyllis loved to dance, play golf and play bridge. She really enjoyed talking with people, she never met a stranger.
Phyllis’ wonderful smile, terrific sense of humor and optimism, will be greatly missed.
Phyllis is survived by her daughters Debra (Dwight) Linder and Robin (Frank Denning) Lewis; grandchildren Tricia (Matt) Snyder and Travis (Shauna) Linder; great grandchildren Kenton, Kohen, Kenzie Snyder, Anna and Taylor Linder; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband John, her parents Wilfred and Evelyn Becker, and brother Harold Becker.
The family will receive guests for a visitation between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Olathe. A memorial Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon. Inurnment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church of Olathe.
