Phyllis Kent Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 14 to Sep. 16, 2023.
Phyllis Jean Kent of Vancouver, Washington passed away peacefully on September 12th at the age of 95. She was born on October 13, 1927 in Menahga, Minnesota to Herb and Susie Dobson. She was one of nine children. On February 28, 1947 she married Wayne Kent. Phyllis and Wayne welcomed a son on their first wedding anniversary and in the same year moved to Camas, Washington. In 1969, they moved to their family farm of 44 years in Knappa, Oregon where she worked at D & D neighborhood market. Phyllis remained at the farm after Wayne passed in 2003. They were married for 56 years. She relocated to Vancouver in 2013 to be closer to her family. You could always find Phyllis in her kitchen or in her garden tending to her flowers. Her grandkids have endless memories of her cooking and baking, especially her sourdough pancakes, Christmas cookies, and homemade lemonade. Phyllis learned to text which allowed her to stay in contact with family near and far. She never forgot a birthday and would make sure to send a text to her loved ones on their special day.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Darrell, in 1973, two grandchildren, Shay in 1999 and Eric in 2017, seven siblings, and her beloved dogs, Cooper and Abby. She is survived by her children, Doyle Kent of Washougal, Denise Foster of Vancouver, Deb Lasselle and her son-in-law Rich of Washougal, her brother Dennis Dobson of Wisconsin, along with 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was also a special Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 18th at Straubs Funeral Home, 325 NE 3rd Ave in Camas, followed by Graveside service at Camas Cemetery. A reception will follow at Fern Prairie United Methodist Church, 26112 NE Brunner Road in Camas.
