Phyllis Lawrence Knudsen, a cherished and devoted mother, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024, at the age of 74, in Bettie, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Born on October 29, 1949, in Harkers Island, Phyllis spent her lifetime nurturing her family that loved her dearly. Phyllis, dedicated over three decades of her life to Peppertree Resorts, where her unwavering work ethic became a staple. Her commitment to her work was paralleled by her involvement , where she cultivated lasting friendships and made significant contributions through her service. Family was the cornerstone of Phyllis's life.
She is survived by her loving son, Richard Knudsen and his wife, Amy; her daughter, Tammy Knudsen; and her adored grandchildren, Kara and Colt Knudsen, who brought her immeasurable joy. Phyllis's legacy of love and strength also lives on through her brother, Fillmore Lawrence Jr. and his wife, Janet; her nephew, Fillmore Lawrence III, his daughter, Ella; and her niece, Leslie Lazarus. Above all, Phyllis reveled in the role of grandmother, a title she cherished with every fiber of her being. Her grandkids were the light of her life, and her involvement in their activities and achievements was a source of great pride and happiness.
Phyllis's warmth extended beyond her immediate family. Her generous spirit and caring nature touched the lives of everyone she met. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the memories of her kindness, resilience, and the love she shared will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her.
As we bid farewell to Phyllis Lawrence Knudsen, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman profoundly loved. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, and her memory will always be a blessing to those fortunate enough to have been part of her journey.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Vergie Mae Cemetery on Harkers Island.
