January 28, 1939 - August 16, 2025
Phyllis K. Long, 86, lifelong resident of Grand Island passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Tiffany Square Care Center, surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Cemetery.
All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements; memorials are suggested to the family.
Phyllis was born in Grand Island on January 28, 1939, daughter of Fred and Frieda (Stueven) Kruse. She was raised in Grand Island alongside her brother and sisters. Phyllis graduated from Grand Island Senior High School with the class of 1956.
On February 3, 1960, she married Robert "Bob" Long and together they made their home in Grand Island. She devoted herself to raising their three children as a loving homemaker. In addition to being a wife and mother she was also employed at K-Mart for 41 years where she not only enjoyed her work but formed many lifelong friendships.
Phyllis loved traveling and creating memories with her family and friends. She shared many adventures riding alongside Bob on his Goldwing motorcycle. She especially cherished her annual trips to Denver with her sisters, daughter, and granddaughters. She enjoyed trying her luck in casinos both at home and on trips with her cousin Marilyn Paustian and family, trips with her best friend Berta Perkins, and with other family members as well. Phyllis loved supporting her kids and grandkids, making and sharing in the many memories of their times together.
She is survived by her children, David (Mary) Long of Omaha, Trish (Brad) Durbin of Omaha and Steve (Erica) Long of Grand Island; eight beloved grandchildren, Tyler (Jennifer Trapp) Long, Sam (Sarah Godfrey) Long, Abigail (Brady) Atwell, Margaret (Blake) Culbert and Chase (Molly Rader) Durbin and Gage, Grant and Maxton Long; along with many friends and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; brother, John (ImaJean) Kruse; sisters, Lucy (Gordon) Sinner, Erma (Leo) Wissing and Vera Kelly; and dear friend and neighbor, Berta Perkins.
