Phyllis Marks Obituary

Phyllis Marie Marks (nee Parise), of Monroe Township, NJ, formerly of Greensburg, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, at her home. She was 80 years old. Born in Greenburg to Daniel and Mary (nee Panetti) Parise, she resided in multiple places around the United States due to the military assignments of her husband, Robert Marks, before settling down in Monroe Township, NJ, 30 years ago. Prior to retiring in 2015, she was a third-grade schoolteacher for Immaculate Conception School in Spotswood, where she worked for 40 years. Phyllis was a part of the first graduating class of Greensburg Central High School. She was the captain majorette and the graduating class homecoming queen. She was part of the Third Order Carmelites. She was a faithful member of the religious group CMD, Communitas Mater Domini, Word of God, and belonged to a charismatic prayer group for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking Italian meals, especially homemade pizza, and making Christmas cookies with her children and grandchildren. She faithfully gathered with friends and prayer warriors to pray the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Her greatest desire was to spread and share God's word through the love and life of Jesus, Mary our Blessed Mother, and St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse. Her obedience and love for God were a shining example of her devotion and dedication to her faith and family. She has loved, encouraged, listened to, and touched the lives and hearts of all her family and friends. She expressed that she wishes that everyone knew how great our Lord is and how abundant his mercy and grace are, and that his love and understanding are infinite. Truly she believed that with God all things are possible, and to lean not on our own understanding but with great courage, trust in God with all our hearts and souls. Her favorite song was, "Our God is an Awesome God, He reigns from Heaven and Earth!" The presence of God radiated in and through her life; she was a beacon and light to her family and to so many dear and cherished friends. She will be missed tremendously and carried in our hearts forever. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Robert D. Marks of Monroe Township; her sons, Robert V. Marks and his wife, Carol, of Long Beach, NY, and Paul Marks and his wife, Brenda, of Union Beach, NJ; her grandchildren, Daniel, Billy, and Paul. Anthony Marks of Monroe Township, NJ; her daughters, Michelle Marks of Cape Cod, MA, and her grandchildren, Carmen and Valentino Major, Amy Marks Belmonte of Monroe Township, NJ, and Nicholas, Zachary, Paris, and Layne. Her brother, Nick Parise, and his wife, Linda, of New Stanton, PA; her sister-in-law, Barbara Hurd and her late husband, Terry, of Greensburg, PA; her niece, Danielle Hurd Ross, and husband, Nick, of Bozeman, Montana; her nephew, David Parise of Greensburg and wife, Jill; great-nieces, Paige and Mia; and great-nephew, Luke. Her nephew, Daniel Parise of New Stanton; niece, Deanna Parise Nestor of Wheeling, WV, and her husband, Scott; and her great-nephews, Nicholas, Christian, and Austin. Relatives and friends of Phyllis will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Phyllis was a beautiful woman inside and out!! She was in my sister's wedding and we were all friends at Central Catholic. I'm sure she is with Jesus and watching over her family. RIP Phyllis

I remember back in the 60s, Phyllis taught us girls how to twirl a baton!! We just loved her... and her dad made the best pizza across from the AMS Club in S. Gbg. Never forgot either of them. Rest in Peace Phyllis. My deepest sympathy to your family
