Phyllis Marley Obituary

Phyllis Ann Marley

Phyllis Marley was a beloved aunt, sister, and friend whose kindness, generosity, and unwavering strength touched everyone who knew her. She was a strong, independent woman, admired for her resilience, her selfless nature, and the quiet way she showed love through her actions. She was truly loved by all and was a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she loved deeply.

Phyllis was a graduate of Westmoore High School and carried herself throughout life with confidence, grace, and a giving heart. She was a devoted member of Concord Methodist Church of Coleridge, where her love for her church family and anything church-related was evident in all she did. Her faith was the foundation of her life.

Family meant everything to Phyllis. She shared an especially close and loving bond with her sister Jane Ritter, whom she loved dearly. She also held deep affection for her nephew David Ritter and his wife Marla. She cherished her niece Annette Pierce and enjoyed many happy moments attending spring, summer, and fall festivals together.

Phyllis adored her great-nephews Charlie Pierce, Tyler Ritter, Evan Ritter, and Cade Ritter, and she welcomed their growing families with open arms. She loved Charlie's wife, Barbie, Tyler's wife, Daisy, and Evan's fiancée, Marie Watkins, embracing each of them as part of her family. She also treasured her two great-great-nephews, Dean and Reed Ritter, and delighted in watching them grow.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures-dressing cute, shopping, and spending time with friends and family. Phyllis was well known for canning pickles and generously sharing them with neighbors, friends, and loved ones. She never arrived at a holiday gathering without one of her famous pecan pies, and when strawberries were in season, she made it a tradition to surprise David with a homemade strawberry pie.

Above all, Phyllis was a true friend-kind, thoughtful, and always putting others before herself.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Delaven Marley; her mother, Johnsie Marley; her brothers, Benjamin Marley and Ira Marley; and her brother-in-law, Jerry Ritter.

She is survived by her sister, Jane Ritter; her niece, Annette Pierce; her nephew, David Ritter and his wife, Marla; her beloved great- and great-great-nephews and their spouses; and many dear friends whose lives she touched including her special friends, Ellen Brady and Shirley Garner.

Phyllis will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her strength, faith, and the love she so freely gave.

The body will lie in repose on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 from noon until 5:00 PM at the Loflin Funeral Home in Ramseur.

Funeral Services, Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Concord Methodist Church of Coleridge. The service will be officiated by Rev. Sam Harris. Committal will follow the service at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the committal at the Concord Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
