Phyllis June McTheny, 92, of Lanexa, Va. passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025. She was born on April 9, 1932, in Sutton W. Va. to Raymond "Jake" and Dorothy "Dot" Canfield.
Phyllis lived in West Virginia for most of her younger life and married William "Bill" McTheny on December 19, 1952. She is survived by her son, Mark McTheny and wife Susan; daughter, Lynn Onesty and husband Richard; daughter, Kara Schiele and husband Richard; brother, George Canfield and wife Kim; sister, Becky Tharpe and husband Mike; six grandchildren, Brett (Ashley) and Ryan (Courtney) McTheny, Nicholas (Allison) and Morgan Onesty, Daniel (Caroline) and Zachary (Alicia) Schiele. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Audrey, Grace, Oliver, Declan and Stella; as well as nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents, Jake and Dorothy; sister, Jean Loggins; and three nephews, Michael Tharpe, JK and Steve Boggs.
Phyllis loved and cared for her family. She was a beloved mentor, friend, advisor, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to all. She is and will always be affectionately known as "THE MaMaw".
Phyllis supported her family by holding various positions, but the most important according to her was being a homemaker and a parent. She supported Bill and the family through various professional moves and lived in West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland throughout their marriage.
Phyllis was a member of First Baptist Church of West Point.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point, VA 23181, with a viewing from 10 a.m. - 10:45a.m that morning. Interment will follow in Sunny Slope Cemetery, West Point. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2025, at the funeral home.
